Forty-eight teams competed in the second of the three regatta 2015-16 Quantum J/70 Winter Series hosted by Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa, Florida.
John Baxter and Team Vineyard Vines repeated their first series finish with a win for the second series title, while Brian Elliott and Team B-Squared topped the 20-boat Corinthian sub-division.
The series consisted to a total of six races, two on day one and four on day two. On day one, the wind blew a light 4 to 7 knots out of the east and died significantly to the south east during the second race. On day two, the skies darkened and the breeze strengthened to planning conditions allowing for much
needed racing to be completed.
In the Open Division, Will Welles and Team Scamp finished in eight place overall and Dave Franzel with Team Spring finished 13th. Darby Smith’s Team AFRICA ended up 24th overall, and Frank McNamara with Team Chinook finished 28th in the Open division.
